Update (Feb 7, 2009) : I finally got my self a Panasonic Lumix LX-3, I have tested a few shots with this tiny wonder. See my macro shots here

What I want for Christmas! Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3
Specs:
* 24mm wide 2.5x optical LEICA DC lens
* MEGA O.I.S.(Optical Image Stabilizer)
* Venus Engine IV
* Large 3.0” 460k dot LCD monitor
* Up to ISO 3200 sensitivity
* Up to 1280×720 (30 fps) pixel movie capture
* 10.1 megapixel JPG / RAW
I’ve been looking for a compact camera for years now that’s handy to carry but given its small sensor can still produce clean images at high ISO. Lumix LX-3 is a stand out. Also, Lumix LX-3 also has one of the widest focal length in its class at 24mm … and it’s a Leica! I guess I should start saving up for this baby.

No wonder you’re working triple time lately! Hmmmm….
This is a cool compact camera. The review of this cam in dpreview makes you want to own this lightweight camera. We wish that in the future, DSLRs will grow small while retaining the full-frame sensor performance and ergonomics.
@Michael Peligro – yes it is, i’ve seen many images taken with it and the quality is just very good.
I don’t think DSLRs with become smaller than the D40s or the 450Ds of today, compatibility with the current SLR lenses can be a headache for the manufacturers.
What I see in the future is that compact cameras will ‘grow’ larger sensors. Currently Sigma DP1 has an APS-C sensor, largest one for a compact to date. Now a 35mm sensor on a point and shoot would really be neat.
[...] little toy since I have been a dSLR user for quite sometime? I have tried a few test shots with the Panasonic LX-3, with 2 strobe lights. Yep, it has a hot shoe and I can put an external flash or a remote trigger [...]
