Preparing for a Wedding Shoot
February 20, 2009 | Articles | 1,528 views
A good friend of mine will be having her big day tomorrow. Few months ago she already booked my flight to Manila. I arrived here today. My itinerary was a bit blurry due to some unexpected events but nevertheless I’m here and getting ready for the wedding event tomorrow. I managed to bring along with me almost all my gear, 2 Canon bodies, 3 lenses, chargers, memory cards, lumix lx-3, laptop, and other accessories. All fit into 1 Lowepro mini-trekker backpack and a Pelican 1500 case, including my clothes for 5 days.

Canon gears and all.. including my foot
Canon 5D with 70-200 f4L IS, Canon 40D with 85mm 1.8, Canon 20D with the 50mm 1.2L
When I got here I called up a few photographer friends, and so, Felino texted me if I wanted to use his gear, of course I said yes. I got to use a Canon 5D mk2 tomorrow! Plus an EF 50mm f1.2 L! I have got to test these babies. Well I’m not gonna use all three at the same time, maybe I’ll just carry the Canon 5D mk2 and Canon 40D as my secondary camera. I’ll just leave the 20D at the hotel. I definitely not going to carry three heavy cameras around my neck the whole day, besides i’m done with the “I’ve been there, done that” kind of stuff. Carrying a big camera will make to look like a pro but since it’s just not my style, I stripped down my gear, a long time ago, the smaller the better. Carrying a 2 kilogram camera the whole day will definitely suck away your energy. Well the 5D mk2 makes an exception, for now.

Speaking of hotel, I’m in Edsa Shangrila right now, making this blog. Like I’ve said earlier, my itinerary was a bit blurry but at the last minute, the couple told me to stay at one of the rooms they got for the wedding preparation tomorrow. A cozy hotel, I can say, very nice room, bed and bath, and yes thank God, an internet and also a nice working table.
I’ve been on the road (and in the air) since yesterday from General Santos, to Davao, and coming here in Manila, it was a bit tiring but I’m enjoying the stay while I’m here. And of course, the food.. I’m not gonna miss it. We ate at the Heat, a restaurant at the hotel. Cozy, expensive and the food is good.
To sum it up, I’m done packing my essential gear for tomorrow’s event, had a hearty meal, had a warm bath and I’m gonna get my sleep. Ahh this is life…
