Davao Gulf Reloaded
March 16, 2009 | Landscapes | 1,587 views
Last Saturday, me with several Gensan bloggers went to Davao City to join a food bloggers meet. I met new friends, Aileen and her group from Manila, Chiq Montes of Cagayan de Oro, Lyle, Brendel, Migs from Davao City and many others. We toured around the city, tried the longest zipline in Southern Mindanao called the Xcellerator. At lunch, we had a hearty meal at Ranchero’s Grill and at Ram’s Resto during dinner. After which we went to Blugre Coffee at Matina Town Square to unwind. That night all bloggers from Gensan went home, except myself which I decided to stay for a night in Davao just to shoot the sunrise at Times Beach.

Azul (2009). Times Beach, Davao Gulf
Sunday, the following day, I woke up at 4:30 in the morning. I prepared my things and waited for my friend Joey to fetch me at the hotel. We went straight to David’s Seawall at Times Beach. We setup our cameras and waited for the sun to rise over the Island Garden City of Samal.
It’s been over a year since I here the last time. One thing that catches my attention was the statue of a little mermaid. A question immediately crossed my mind, am I in Denmark? Unfortunately I’m not, I’m still standing on one of the beachlines of Davao Gulf. Looks like the statue was a replica of the famous mermaid sculpture in Copenhagen, Denmark.
It was a very good day, the waters of Davao Gulf was calm and the weather was fine. Another good day for a sunshine. I went back home to General Santos City that same day with a cache of good images.

Ai Shiang’s post: Faces of the World
I did a minimal global adjustment on levels to balance the tones with dodging and burning. In my landscape photos, I wanted to let the viewers see what my eyes have seen during the time I took the photos.
