The New Nikon D5000 DX
Nikon introduces its new entry-level model camera, the Nikon D5000 seems to look like the D40/D60 models but has the innards that sits just below the ‘enthusiast’ grade Nikon D90. Though Nikon D5000 does not have a built-in autofocus motor just like the D40/D60, it boasts a new LCD that can be tilted and swiveled for ease of composition when shooting in awkward positions.
The Nikon D5000 also have extensive in-camera retouching including raw development and straightening, great for editing photos on the fly.

* 2.7″ tilt and swivel LCD monitor (230,000 dots)

Nikkor 10-24mm F3.5-4.5G ED lens
Nikon also introduces a new lens for 1.5x crop DX format, the Nikkor 10-24mm f3.5-4.5G ED. At an affordable price compared to the must more expensive Nikkor 14-24 f2.8 FX format lens, it is a great addition to Nikon system users that shoots landscapes or simply requires a wide angled lens. The 2mm extra focal length of the Nikkor 10-24mm compared to the Nikkor 12-24mm is another good feature of this lens.

What do i want, a Nikon or a Canon? Hmmm, lemme try Nikon…Hubby has the Canon eh…
sheng’s post: All Instant
haha ganon? get a Canon, at least you can share lenses.
well unless you don’t want to share, then get a Nikon.
i’m waiting for the nikon 50000 :D
they should opt for more ingenious version naming, say:
Nikon 3.1416
Nikon 14344
Nikon 911
Lantaw’s post: kabakungan: tambobong’s premier sunset spot
hahaha it’s their fault.. every year they introduce new camera models, even introducing some kind of a consumer “bracket”. Like the D5000 they term it “below enthusiast level”. Naming them can be challenge for their marketing scheme.
galing ng LCD…ma swivel and tilt… sana meron din sa canon…. pang paparazzi at warzone shooting……
im sure gagawa rin ang Canon.. maybe sa Canon 2000D hehe. Swivel LCD and Wifi
Canon has 500D.
Nikon has D5000.
Seriously, why can’t they think of other numbers and letters? haha. XD
Kidding aside, it’s really battle between Canon and Nikon. Pero Canon lang gihapon ko. Haha
@Emily – D for digital kasi hehe. The 500D is even a name for a Canon close up filter

So that explains why. :)
Hmmm, kelan kaya ang labas nito sa Pinas?
Anytime soon.. Nikon just discontinued producing Nikon D40
A news excerpt:
——————-
“Nikon has finally discontinued its D40 digital SLR, one of its most successful and longest-serving digital cameras.
The 6.1-million-pixel DSLR first saw the light of day in November 2006.
Billed as Nikon’s smallest and lightest DSLR, the 475g model was 65g lighter than its predecessor, the D50.
The lower end of the consumer DSLR range is well catered for by the 10.2MP Nikon D60 – which was launched last year – and the D5000, a 12.3MP model unveiled earlier this week.”
