The image of the Sto. Niño, child Jesus Christ
I woke up very early today. It was cold and the weather was really not that cooperating but nevertheless we proceeded to Tambler, General Santos City where we jumped off to be part of the annual celebration of Sto. Niño, the patron of Barangay Bula.
From Tambler we traveled for around an hour to reach the shores of Barangay Bula where we waited for the image of Sto. Niño. After a mass, the image of Sto. Nino was then transferred from Barangay Bula by an amphibian boat to the a large fishing vessel which we rode on. We then traversed the shores of Sarangani Bay to the vicinity of General Santos Fish Port Complex before turning back en route to the Queen Tuna Park where the image will then again be unloaded and be brought back to the Sto. Niño parish church.
The fluvial parade was composed of more than a hundred fishing boats, coast guard, and some small out-riggers. All the vessels were filled with patrons who wanted to experience the journey.
Back at Barangay Bula, the residents celebrate with lots of food, fireworks and bands for the visitors and neighbors. This celebration is dubbed as the largest barangay fiesta in the city of General Santos. It is the highlight of the people’s celebration of their spirit of unity and cooperation.
Even though it was raining hard, the devoties, including me, endured the heavy pour and the hour long journey of the fluvial parade just to be with the Sto. Niño. It was a humbling experience for me, for I was lucky enough to have rode on the vessel that carried the image of Sto. Niño, in which everyone will do anything just to see and touch the image.

With the new format called “micro four thirds”, SLR cameras are getting smaller. It seems a hybrid of a compact SLR body with that of a point-and-shoot that snapshooters love. Four thirds refers to the sensor size of the camera with an aspect ration of 4:3. In order to further scale down [...]
